RBG reveals background, navigating the music Industry

Table of Contents

The music industry is often described as a labyrinth, a complex web of challenges and opportunities that can either make or break aspiring artists. For RBG, the rising star blending Afrobeats and hip-hop, this journey has been a remarkable one, marked by dedication, passion, and unwavering commitment to his craft.

Born Nduka Ashiedu, RBG’s story begins in Delta State, Nigeria, where his love for music ignited at an early age. “I have always been a songwriter since I was little, trying to outbattle my elder brothers in rap competitions we always staged while growing up,” he reminisces. This innate talent and competitive spirit laid the foundation for what would become a promising musical career.

As life progressed, Nduka pursued higher education, earning a BSc in Pharmacology & Therapeutics from Delta State University. However, his heart remained steadfastly devoted to music. It was during these years that he honed his skills, crafting lyrics and melodies, and dreaming of a future in the music industry.

RBG’s journey from the classroom to the stage was not without its challenges. The music industry demands more than talent; it requires grit and determination to overcome obstacles. “Sometimes it’s hard to be consistent with the high prices of promotions in the music industry,” RBG acknowledges, shedding light on one of the industry’s formidable hurdles.

Despite the challenges, RBG’s passion for music endured. He had influences from family members, including his cousin, a choirmaster, and a music teacher in primary school who nurtured his musical abilities. These early experiences kindled his love for creating music and performing, shaping him into the artist he is today.

In April 2022, RBG took a significant step in his musical journey by releasing his EP, “DELTA.” This project showcased his commitment to blending contemporary Afrobeats with the lyrical complexity of hip-hop, setting him on a path to recognition. The EP was not just an album but a statement—a declaration that RBG had arrived.

Looking ahead, RBG has an exciting project in the works—an EP titled “You Don’t Need to Feel Alone,” scheduled for release this year. “The whole idea was to make music that feels like therapy while also being able to be a vibe,” he shares. This upcoming work promises to delve into themes of clear communication and honesty in relationships, delivering a powerful narrative through his signature blend of Afrobeats and hip-hop.

RBG’s journey through the music industry reflects the tenacity required to pursue one’s passion. His unique sound and dedication have already earned him recognition, and as he continues to navigate the complexities of the music world, RBG is poised for stardom.

His story serves as an inspiration to aspiring artists, a testament to the enduring power of music, and a reminder that dreams can indeed become reality.
