Bebe Rexha
Singer Bebe Rexha has accused an airport worker of threatening and “mentally abusing” her due to her Albanian heritage. In a tearful video posted on Instagram, the 34-year-old explained that she spoke to the worker in Albanian, asking for directions to get her ticket, but was shocked when he allegedly responded by banning her from the flight.
Rexha, who has both U.S. citizenship and Albanian roots, shared the incident with her 12 million Instagram followers, calling it a “hate crime” driven by her ethnicity. She also claimed that the male staff member refused to identify himself and continued to abuse her verbally while other employees did nothing to intervene.
It’s still unclear if the singer, known for her hit collaborations with artists like David Guetta and Louis Tomlinson, was ultimately allowed to board her flight from Munich airport. Rexha also mentioned that she believes the worker is employed by a company that provides services for Lufthansa.
In response, Lufthansa issued a statement expressing that they are in direct communication with Rexha to understand the incident. The airline emphasized its commitment to diversity and stated, “As a global airline, we connect people from all over the world and uphold the values of diversity and equal opportunity. We do not tolerate discriminatory behavior of any kind.”
Rexha later confirmed that Lufthansa had contacted her and urged them to conduct a full investigation into the matter. Beyond her own chart-topping hits, Rexha has written songs for well-known artists.
